Updates have been made to the Wildlife Act application type in AMS for Renewable Energy and Prescribed Transmission Line proponents.

DATE ISSUED: Oct. 10, 2025

EFFECTIVE DATE: Oct. 11, 2025

The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) has updated the Wildlife Act application type in the Application Management System (AMS) for Renewable Energy (Wind and Solar) and Prescribed Transmission Line proponents, effective Oct. 11, 2025.

The updates are available on the “Create Application” page of the AMS and requires the use of a new spatial template when applying.

The updates to the Wildlife Act application type are as follows:

  • A new spatial template must be used to define the affected area(s).
  • The template is named “template_wla (.dbf/.shp/.shx)”
  • This new template and related standards can be found in the AMS Spatial section of the AMS page of the BCER website and within the AMS.
  • A “Fish and Wildlife Application Form” must be filled out and uploaded to complete a Wildlife Act application.

These updates to the Wildlife Act application type in AMS are applicable only to Renewable Energy (Wind and Solar) and Prescribed Transmission Line proponents.

AMS application manuals, AMS Spatial Data Submission Manual and other guidance documents will be updated to reflect these changes in the coming month.
