This is the first of multiple phases over the next year to enhance the Environmental Information Management System (EIMS).
DATE ISSUED: June 18, 2025
EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately
The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) is migrating the Environmental Information Management System (EIMS) to a new and improved digital platform, which will provide a better user experience. EIMS is used to share wildlife guidance and related environmental information with energy resource activity operators.
The new platform will allow for expansion of content and support timely updates for environmental management information.
The initial phase involves migrating existing EIMS content to the new platform and is not anticipated to impact users. Future updates will be implemented in stages over the next year. They will include additional species information for high priority wildlife outside northeast B.C., ecological communities and wildlife habitat features, new environmental values and the incorporation of content related to the BCER’s expanded mandate of regulating renewable energy projects.
We appreciate any comments and feedback.
